UK tourists often struggle through endless brochures in an attempt to find the perfect break away. However, holidaymakers may be well advised to look to destinations closer to home, according to new statistics compiled by TripAdvisor. Using levels of site activity as a guide, the website has published a list of the top 10 ‘emerging hotspots’ for travellers.
Potential holidaymakers living in Ireland can visit a number of the UK hotspots by hopping on a ferry with Stena Line or Irish Ferries. England can boast to having the top two places on the list, Portreath in Cornwall and Lacock in Wiltshire. Both are relatively accessible by car, should one choose to take the Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead crossing, as an example.
Ireland also holds a spot for one of the fastest growing tourist destinations. Limerick, the third largest city in Ireland, is attracting more and more visitors each and every year, thanks in no small measure to its booming cultural scene. Holidaymakers based in the UK can skip the hassle of the airport and catch a ferry from Liverpool to Dublin with DFDS Seaways or P & O.
