Nick O’Hagan and James Youngs, of Giant Films, are hoping for success with their forthcoming move, ‘The Most Dangerous Girl in the World.’ Although the British film industry of late has been arguably more ‘miss’ than ‘hit,’ the romantic comedy promises to get off to a good start as it will be shot near the port of Dover on board the P&O Ferries’ new vessel, the Spirit of Britain.
Due for service at the beginning of next year, the 213-metre long, 49,000-tonne Spirit of Britain has cost P&O Ferries an estimated 360 million euros. The Spirit of Britain will be the largest ferry ever to sail across the English Channel.
Chris Laming, of P&O Ferries, commented: “We were approached a couple of weeks ago by Giant Films who are making a feature film set in Dover. They have a number of scenes they wish to film with the backdrop of the White Cliffs on board a ferry and we have offered them the opportunity of our outside decks on the Spirit of Britain after January when it comes into service.” After noting the importance of P&O Ferries’ investment in new ships, Mr Laming concluded: “It is a genuinely exciting time for the ferry industry.”
