Following on from the significant disruption caused earlier this year by the volcanic ash cloud, ferry operators are once again coming to the rescue of stranded passengers. With major airports including Heathrow and Gatwick struggling under the wintry conditions, there are still options available for thos who can make it to a ferry port.
The Dover-Calais services all have some availability at the time of writing, but space is selling out fast. Brittany Ferries also operate routes to Caen, Cherbourg, St Malo, and Roscoff.
Northern travellers can still get to and from Rotterdam and Zeebrugge on the North Sea Ferries from Hull – booking as soon as possible is advised though to avoid disappointment.
For those travelling further afield there is also some availability on some Brittany Ferries crossings from Portsmouth and Plymouth to Santander in Northern Spain.
To avoid disappointment, it’s advisable to book as soon as possible since with the airport delays looking likely to continue into the week, more and more people are turning to the ferries to get them where they need to be.
