The Isle of Man is in the Irish Sea, and not far from the UK mainland. It’s best described as compact at just a few hundred square miles, but as much of the island is uninhabited there’s plenty of space to get away from it all and relax. There’s a casual laid back atmosphere on the island which seems a million miles away from the stresses of the mainland. Not many people know it, but the Isle of Man has its own parliament and laws which gives it a unique character.
Most of the ferry traffic to the Isle of man ends up in the capital, Douglas. Recently modernised, it’s a comfortable facility with everything you could need on your travels. It’s not far from Douglas too, which will be an essential stop on any visit to the Isle of Man.
There are numerous ferry routes from mainland UK and Ireland including Heysham, Liverpool, Belfast and Larne, all docking in Douglas.
