Following a public consultation led by the Economic Development Department, Condor Ferries has accepted calls to improve its services in Jersey and Guernsey.
Channel Islanders are thought to have been keen to involve themselves in the consultation process, heaping criticism on the ferry operator for constant delays, faults and schedule changes.
Responding to the results of the public consultation, Condor Ferries stated: “To address the issues raised by the public, officers from Jersey and Guernsey have held detailed discussions with Condor Ferries. Condor has now formally responded and in doing so has recognised that parts of its service have scope for improvement.”
Managing Director, Simon Edsall, added: “Condor Ferries plays an active part in the Island community and listens closely to what local residents have to say, conducting in-depth market research into customers’ needs and satisfaction with our services.”
Condor Ferries has subsequently pledged to review all feedback received from Channel Island residents, with the aim of improving its service. In particular, the ferry operator intends to provide a more reliable schedule for 2011, with fewer faults and delays affecting timetables. The consultation process was deemed necessary, as Condor Ferries controls ferry travel between the UK and the Channel Islands.
